Balancing Act: How Hollywood’s Working Moms Make It All Work
“The Hot List”

“Celebrities tend to go to the same doctors, schools, stores,” says Linda Friedman Meadow, coauthor of City Baby L.A. Here’s a peek at what’s in star moms’ Rolodexes.

Birthday Parties
In Hollywood, even child’s play is a major production. Famous parents pay Celebration Entertainment up to $10,000 for kids’ events. “We once had an elephant greet guests at the gate, “says co-owner Maura Hanlon Smith. The bakery of the moment is Sweet Lady Jane. “Whatever customers come up with, we can do,” says owner Jane Lockhart.

Mommy & Me
Babies pose next to moms in the Itsy Bitsy Yoga class at Santa Monica’s Ocean Oasis. At Nana’s garden in L.A. (owned by Connie Stevens and daughters Tricia and Joely Fisher) mothers can get spa treatments while an on-site nanny watches the tykes.

Baby Style
Fred Segal has long been a fashion mecca. Now its Life Size boutique is a hot spot for moms who want to dress their kids in Juicy Couture, Dolce & Gabbana and Roberto Cavalli. Kate Hudson, Liv Tyler, Madonna and Kate Beckinsale—who bought matching pink jackets for her daughter and herself—are customers.
