The Relationship
between Developmental Movement & Yoga
Babies are not just younger children, and toddlers are not miniature adults.
The physical bodies, learning styles, and needs of babies and tots are
very different from school-aged children. We will discuss the specific role yoga plays in the development of an infant.
Helen Garabedian’s extensive research documents more than 25 examples
of how, why, and when babies do yoga naturally.
We will explore the developmental
progression of an infant’s movements from birth to walking. You will
learn ways to introduce tummy time and other optimal positions for development.
We will also explore infant anatomy, physiology, reflexes, cues, and psychology
as it relates to yoga. We offer parents ways for natural ways to calm young children. And we will explore how to support a tot's mobility with hopes that a healthy attitude towards movement and exercise will prevail throughout their childhood and lives.
