We prefer that attendees have some personal yoga experience; But you DO NOT need to be a yoga teacher to become certified in IBY. Your experience with babies/tots/tykes and passion for them will prove to be one of the most valuable assets in your success as you work towards certification and become a Certified IBY Facilitator.  
Yes, we believe in deepening the parent/child bond, creating organic friendships among like-minded parents, and building good exercise habits for families with young children through Itsy Bitsy Yoga classes.
Not really, this training teaches you how to teach yoga to babies, tots and tykes along with a participating adult.
Yes, but in unsuspecting ways. While the focus remains on the youngsters parent/caregiver participants in the baby class tone their bodies and regain strength. In the Tot & Tyke classes, parents become as actively engaged in the yoga poses as their youngsters and in many cases, even more so!
Absolutely NOT! However, familiarity with basic yoga poses and meditation is highly recommended. Many times, this training enhances you thirst for yoga. It also enlightens existing yoga teachers with new perspectives and embodied developmental experience that ultimately makes them a better adult yoga teacher!
Absolutely! Helen began this program long before her 4.5 year old son was born. In fact, Helen's first book was published just week's before Andrew's birth.
Yes. The hours of attendance in Itsy Bitsy Yoga trainings can be applied to fulfilling your continuing education requirements or help you meet the 500-hour level of Yoga Alliance's RYT standards. Hours earned are typically categorized under specialties or electives.

Yes. We accept Visa and Master Card - if you don't feel comfortable faxing or mailing your credit card information you can always call us with it toll-free at (877)YOGA-FUN. You can also pay by check. Checks should be made payable to Spirit Into Life, Inc. and sent to PO Box 282, Sudbury, MA 01776.
Not as this time. But, please think creatively...many times a yoga studios, state agencies, wellness centers, spas, or similar small businesses that offer parent/child classes may give you the funds necessary for training tuition and travel. And in return, they may ask you to agree to teach the classes you received IBY training for at their studio for reduced rate, or free for a predetermined period of time. These trainings offer you a means to earn money. And, for sponsoring you, a studio or business with empty spaces can make additional revenue by offering Itsy Bitsy Yoga classes. The training tuition can be self-financed on your credit card and is a tax deductible business investment and a personal investment in yourself, family, and education!

  • For the baby and tot trainings you will need a flexible doll or oversized stuff animal with limbs.
  • Those who are not registered (or certified) yoga teachers are required to complete a take home Yoga Self-Study Exam in order to become a Certified Itsy Bitsy Yoga Facilitator. There is a $25 processing fee for anyone submitting the Yoga-Self Study Exam.

With the growing popularity of yoga for young children, Itsy Bitsy Yoga classes for babies from birth to age 4 with a parent are receiving national media attention and wanted by parents across the country, and world! People just like you, train with Itsy Bitsy Yoga Founder, Helen Garabedian, and then go on to be lead very successful IBY classes in their communities.

Itsy Bitsy Yoga International is committed to building and providing ongoing support to a worldwide brand and creating a network of successful facilitators who are self-employed and well-compensated both spiritually and financially. Many of the facilitators who attended Helen's first training still teach IBY today, but now they are more than just facilitators - they are managers of studios, empowered business owners, have a super work/life balance, and are making their livelihoods doing something that they love!

All Itsy Bitsy Yoga trainees and CIBYF's are required to maintain liability insurance. Liability insurance delivers confidence and comfort to you, your students and the businesses you work with.
No, but we can direct you to several providers of group exercise insurance for yoga teachers. The annual cost of liability insurance ranges $130 - $185 per year for $2 million of coverage.
Yoga studios, Health Clubs, Park & Recreation dept's., Community Centers, Boutiques focused on pregnancy and young children, Maternity Centers, Hospitals/Birth Centers, Natural Supermarkets, Church halls, Holistic Centers, Dance or Karate studios, Libraries, Bookstores, Doctor Offices, Daycare Centers, Pre-schools, Homes, Toy stores, and many other locations.

Both parents and businesses want Certified Itsy Bitsy Yoga Facilitators because they know they are well-trained and share yoga in a way that respects the anatomy, physical ability and cognitive development of babies, tots, and tykes.
That is wonderful! You can work together to boost enrollment in each other's classes, get to know each other, teach at different times/days, promote each other's class schedule when a parent has to work on the days you teach, etc... The more places IBY is offered the stronger the following you will BOTH have in your community .
You can register anytime you'd like but space is limited. Each training is limited in size so that you develop a personal connection with the program, other attendees, and Helen. IPre-Registration is available if you are making plans to attend a specific training but can't send in your registration today, you can pre-register by calling (978) 310-7000 or emailing your name, contact info, and the training dates/location you are interested in.
Non-mobile babies can attend the entire training with you, and you'll have a room full of baby lovers to support your needs! We always welcome children to visit, and even take part in the special demo classes Helen offers as part of the training. We do all we can to accommodate breastfeeding moms and parents with young children.


No, but you will need a soft-bodied doll or over-sizes stuffed animal to practice and teach with.

It truly doesn't matter which training you start with...just follow your heart/instincts and what makes the most sense for you schedule-wise. Helen says, "The baby class is LEAVES YOU FEELING LIKE YOU ARE AN ANGEL, the tots class is where you have the MOST IMPACT and REWARDS, and teaching the Tykes class is SIMPLY A BLAST!" Many attendees come back and attend all the trainings, then go onto teach the Little Family IBY class which accommodates parents with more than one child under age 5.
Please check our training schedule to learn when and where Helen is conducting trainings. Many trainees travel to a location that is most convenient for them.
You have two choices. You can attend a currently scheduled training in the United States. Or you can host Helen Garabedian and the IBY training in your country. Please submit your proposal to us for review.
Many times, trainings are held at hotels to best accommodate those traveling. If the training takes place at a hotel, overnight rooms are typically available at a discounted or group rate when booked 30 days prior to the training. If the training takes place at a studio, we will list several nearby hotels for you to choose from. Please see our lodging page for more details.

Also, let us know if you are interested in sharing a hotel and its costs with another training participants. If there is something we can do to assist with your plans to attend, please let us know.
No. All materials are copyrighted and are reserved solely for those participating in the program or who are CIBYF's.

The Little Family IBY program accommodates one or more children within a family in a mixed age class for newborn babies to age 4. In order to teach the Little Family IBY program you first must complete training and certification in Baby, Tot and Tykes IBY. That’s a total of 7 of days of training with Helen Garabedian before you are qualified to teach the Little Family IBY class. see training schedule

As little as 6 weeks, but you have to 4 months to complete the certification packet. If you think you'll need more time, see below...
Yes, If you would like you can take one 2 month extension. This allows you a total of 6 months from the date of training attendance to complete your certification requirements. If you happen to have any medical issues that cause a delay in the process (such as having a baby) we are very willing to work with you so that you do complete certification on a mutually reasonable timeframe.
NO! All the money you earn teaching IBY classes as described in the trainings/certification you complete is yours!
And, no we are not a franchise, but offer you much of the forms, support, marketing, know-how, systems, business advice, and so on that you would expect from a franchise. There is however a very modest annual licensing fee to keep your certification and its benefits current. (see below)
Absolutely nothing for your first year of certification as an Itsy Bitsy Yoga Facilitator. Thereafter the annual fee is currently $99 for the baby, baby/tot, tot/tyke or tykes program. If you are certified in all programs the second annual license fee is reduced to $50.
  • Legal permission to use the Itsy Bitsy Yoga® name, its poses, songs, marketing materials, and logo to market and teach the parent/child yoga classes you trained and certified in.
  • To identify yourself as a Certified Itsy Bitsy Yoga Facilitator or CIBYF
  • Your contact information listed on the highly visible itsybitsyyoga.com (That alone will pay for the cost of renewing your license)
  • A "See Class Schedule" link posted next to your listing on itsybitsyyoga.com so that parents have easy access to your IBY class schedule.
  • The ability to have your own webpage/URL on www.itsybitsyyoga.com There is a very reasonable fee for its design, maintained, and hosting.

1.) Attend an IBY Yoga training with Helen Garabedian.
2.) Complete the recommended reading before (or after) the training.
3.) After attending the training, arrange and promote a mini-IBY-sessions (4 class meetings to the same group) in your own community. This will help you integrate all that you learned and witnessed during the training. You will need to submit parent evaluations from the students who attend your 4-class-mini session. We call these mini-sessions community classes.
4.) Complete and remit the following:
• Take-home Itsy Bitsy Yoga Exam
• One Class Reflection Report
• Signed Non-Exclusive Limited License Agreement enabling you to take full advantage of the benefits of being a   Certified Itsy Bitsy Yoga Facilitator.
• Non-certified yoga teachers must also complete the Yoga Self-Study Exam with a $25 processing fee.
• Provide proof of liability insurance if you live in the USA.
